Vera Egito

Director and Screenwriter

 

Vera Egito graduated from the Graduation Course of Audiovisual of the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo (ECA - USP) and studied screenplay at the Escuela de Cine y TV de San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba. She directed the short films Espalhadas pelo Ar and Elo, which were displayed at the Festival de Cannes Review Week.

She collaborated on the screenplay of the feature film À Deriva, and was co-writer of the feature film Serra Pelada, both by Heitor Dhalia, and among several nominations at festivals such as Prêmio Guarani, Festin Lisboa Film Festival, and ABC Award, received the award for best original screenplay at the Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix.

She wrote the screenplay for the film Elis, by Hugo Prata, nominated and winner of several awards such as Prêmio Guarani, Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro, Prêmio ABC and Festival de Gramado, in which it won as best feature film.

She wrote the feature films Todas As Canções de Amor by Joana Mariani, and Urubus by Claudio Borreli, which circulated in British independent film festivals, from Brussels, Manchester, Seattle, among others; and Lilith, by Bruno Safadi, still unpublished.

Her first feature film as a screenwriter and director, Amores Urbanos, made her debut at the Miami International Film Festival, received honorable mention at the Festin Festival de Cinema de Lisboa as Best Feature Film and was nominated as Best Latin Film-at the San Sebastián International Festival.

On TV, she was head-writer of the screen room for the fourth season of the Fox Premium series Me Chama de Bruna and launched the TODXS NÓS series of HBO Originals, in which she is the creator, screenwriter and general director. Vera is a project development coordinator at ParanoidBr and, waiting to film her second feature film Os Estudantes. She has experience as a director of music videos, theatre and advertising.
