Screenwriter and Director

 

Leonardo Moreira is a screenwriter, director and playwright. Founding director of Cia. Hiato, a São Paulo theatre group with national and international recognition, he was nominated for two FEMSA awards for Best Play and Best Set for "Cachorro Morto" (2008), won the Shell Award in the Best Author, Best Set and Best Costume categories, as well as a nomination for Best Direction for "Escuro" (2009).

The play "O Jardim", which he wrote and directed, received 19 nominations from the most prestigious Brazilian awards, winning the Shell Award for Best Author, the Governor of the State Award for Best Play of the Year, the APCA Award for Best Director, as well as the CPT Award for Best Author and Best Play, and was chosen as the best play of the last 15 years by several critics and journalists. His play "Ficção" (2012) was nominated for the Shell Award in three categories: Direction, Actor and Actress; for "Amadores" (2016) he was nominated for the APCA Award for Best Direction and voted Best Play of 2016 by Veja magazine; and for "Odisseia" (2018) he was nominated for the Shell Innovation Award.

He is one of the creators of the series "3 Teresas" (2013, GNT), nominated for the APCA Award for Best TV Series; "Vizinhos" (2015, GNT), which received the Best Script for TV Series Award at the Telas Awards; "João Sem Deus" (2023, Canal Brasil); and "Máscaras de Oxigênio Não Cairão Automaticamente" (to be released, Max) - the last two co-created with screenwriter Patricia Corso.

She was a screenwriter for the series "Coisa Mais Linda" (2019, Netflix) and the feature films "De Onde eu Te Vejo" (2016) and "45 do Segundo Tempo", directed by Luiz Villaça and the soap opera "Um Lugar ao Sol" (2021, Globo). In 2021 he was head of a series, coordinating 10 scriptwriters, and is currently in charge of a streaming room, still under wraps.
