Allan Deberton
Allan Deberton holds a degree in Cinema from the Federal Fluminense University. His short films have been featured in more than 150 national and international festivals, winning 76 awards. He co-produced the TV series 'Lana & Carol' (Futura Channel) and the acclaimed documentary 'Do Outro Lado do Atlântico' (From the Other Side of the Atlantic), screened at the 37th Havana Film Festival (Cuba). In 2019, his directorial debut, the feature film 'Pacarrete', had its world premiere at the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival and was nominated for the Golden Goblet Awards. In Brazil, 'Pacarrete' was the major winner at the 47th Gramado Film Festival, earning 8 Kikito awards, including Best Film, Audience Award, Best Screenplay, and Best Direction. The film was also part of the 43rd São Paulo International Film Festival, the 21st Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, the 23rd Tiradentes Film Festival, the 29th Cine Ceará, and the 22nd Florianópolis Audiovisual Mercosur Festival. On the international stage, it participated in Festin (Portugal), San Diego Latino Film Festival (USA), San Francisco Independent Film Festival (USA), Cinemaissí (Finland), Glasgow Film Festival (UK), 23rd Brazilian Film Festival in Paris (France), and various Brazilian Embassy film events.
'Pacarrete' was also the major winner at the 47th Sesc Best Films Festival and the 20th Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix. It was nominated for Best Film at the Best of New Filmmakers Los Angeles Awards (USA) and was named Film of the Year by the Critics' Associations of Rio Grande do Sul, Rio Grande do Norte, and Rio de Janeiro. Among other significant awards, Deberton received the Best Director award at the 24th International Film Festival of Kerala (India). In 2021, he produced the documentary feature 'Transversais', screened at the 45th São Paulo International Film Festival, Mix Brazil 2021, and OutFest Fusion Los Angeles (2022), now available on Netflix. Still under confidentiality, he participated in script rooms for two series on platforms. Deberton is a member of the Brazilian Association of Screenwriters, the Independent Producers Association, the Brazilian Academy of Cinema, and Film Independent (USA).
