Tony Bellotto

Musician, Writer and Presenter

 

Tony Bellotto is the composer and guitarist of the band Titãs, and a writer. He has published the following books: "Bellini and the Sphinx" (1995), "Bellini and the Devil" (1997), "Bellini and the Spirits" (2005), "Bellini and the Labyrinth" (2014), "Machu Pichu" (2013), "BR163: Duas Histórias na Estrada" (2001), "Os Insones" (2007), "No Buraco" (2010), "Lô" (2018), "Dom" (2020), and the children's books "O Livro do Guitarrista" (2001) and "Familia" (2015), the latter in partnership with Arnaldo Antunes, his bandmate for over 10 years.

Tony was also the organizer of the short story anthologies "Rio Noir" (2014) and "São Paulo Noir" (2015), the Brazilian version of the prestigious series launched by the North American publisher Akashic.

His first book, "Bellini and the Sphinx", was adapted into a feature film and won the Audience Award for Best Fiction Film at the Rio Film Festival in 2001. "Bellini and the Devil" was also adapted for theaters and nominated for best film at the Fantasporto Festival and the New York Film Festival.

On television, Tony presented the program "Afinando a Língua" on the Futura channel for 15 years. Tony was the scriptwriter for the first season of the series "Mandrake", released in 2005 by HBO. In 2020 he published the novel "DOM", based on the true story of Pedro Dom, the book that gave rise to the Amazon Prime series. Tony was a script consultant for season 3 of the series.
