Rafael Souza-Ribeiro
Screenwriter and Playwright
Rafael Souza-Ribeiro is a playwright and screenwriter. He graduated from UFRJ in Theater Direction and also directs and acts.
In 2023 he received the CBTIJ Original Text Award for "Tá Com Medo de Quê?"; he is one of the writers of a documentary series, still under wraps; he wrote and acted in the solo "Jonathan" (2023); and he is one of the writers of "Vicky e a Musa" (2023), a series by Rosane Svartman for Globoplay.
He was one of the scriptwriters for "Beleza Fatal", Max's first Brazilian soap opera, created by Raphael Montes; "Amar É Para Os Fortes" (2023, Prime Video), a series by Marcelo D2 and Antonia Pellegrino; and "De Férias em Família" (2022), a Multishow series created by Luis Lobianco and Fabio Mendes. He was a collaborating screenwriter on the feature film "Carlinhos e Carlão", with a script by Célio Porto and Carolina Castro.
He is the author of 4 short stories for the series "Educação Antirracista", produced by Maria Farinha Filmes and broadcast on GNT, and worked for 2 years as a curator at FRAPA, in the Series Pilot category.
In theater, in addition to those already mentioned, he has written "Cerca Viva" (2023); "Adeus, Ternura" (2022); "As Irmãs" (2022); "Homem Feito" (2022); "Cidadela" (2022); "Helena Perdida" (2019); "Macbeth 2020" (2021); "Gisberta" (2017); "Alethea Dreams" (2021); "Isopor" (2009); as well as the theatrical version of the book "Malala, the Girl Who Wanted to Go to School" (2019); and the children's "The Infinite Band Problem" (2018).
As an actor, he appeared in the short film "A Dama do Estácio" (2012), in which he played opposite Fernanda Montenegro and Nelson Xavier. For this work, he received an award for best actor at the 9th Amazonas Film Festival in 2012.
