Rafael Souza-Ribeiro

Screenwriter and Playwright

 

Rafael Souza-Ribeiro, or Rafuda, is a playwright and screenwriter with a degree in Theater Direction from UFRJ. Born in Volta Redonda, the City of Steel, he began his career as a playwright, where he has staged 14 plays in recent years, highlighting their originality, the strength of their dialogues and the emotional relevance of their plots.

In 2024 he was nominated for 3 of Rio's main theater awards in the best text category: Shell, APTR and Prêmio do Humor with 2 different texts. In 2023 he won the CBTIJ Award in the original text category.

He is one of the scriptwriters of "Beleza Fatal", a soap opera by Raphael Montes, the first soap opera on the MAX platform, launched in January 2025. He is the author of the second episode of the documentary series "A História de Uma Planta" (GNT; 2024), created by Geovani Martins and Nina Kopko. He worked with Rosane Svartman on the two seasons of "Vicky e a Musa" (Globoplay; 2023/2024). She wrote the series "Amar É Para os Fortes" (Prime Video; 2023), with Marcelo D2, Antonia Pellegrino and Camila Agustini, with whom she co-wrote two episodes. He wrote the two seasons of "Férias em Família" (Multishow; 2019/2020), writing 6 episodes of the series created by Luis Lobianco and Fábio Mendes. He is the author of 4 short stories for the series "Educação Antirracista" (GNT; 2022), created by Maria Farinha Filmes. He was also a collaborating screenwriter on the feature film "Carlinhos e Carlão" (Migdal Filmes; 2019), written by Célio Porto.

He worked for two years as a curator at FRAPA, in the Series Pilot category.

He is currently working in the script room on a new series project at Max and is awaiting the launch, also at Max, of an unprecedented project in which he was involved in the development.
