Natália Balbino
Actress, screenwriter and director
Natália Balbino holds a bachelor's degree in Performing Arts from PUC-Rio. A native of Rio de Janeiro and raised in Vila Cruzeiro, she has been researching the representation of Black and favela-dwelling individuals in audiovisual media since her undergraduate studies. Her journey as a screenwriter confirms this dedication, focusing on creating complex, entertaining, and captivating characters who are protagonists of their own stories.
Her debut work is the screenplay for the comedy film "Escola de Quebrada" (2022), an original Kondzilla production available on Paramount Plus. Following this, Natália joined the team of writers for seasons 2 and 3 of the comedy reality show "LOL - Se rir, já era" (2022), available on Prime Video. In 2021, she was part of the content team for "Narrativas Negras" on Paramount Plus, and she previously collaborated as an author for the soap opera "Malhação Transformação," created by Priscila Steinman and Márcia Prates, aired on Rede Globo. Natália is also the creator and writer of the comedy series "Clube Spelunca," currently in production by Giros Filmes, set to be released in 2024 on Warner.
As an actress, Natália appears in the film "Medusa" (2021, Dir. Anita Rocha da Silveira), which premiered at Cannes and won the awards for "Best Film" and "Best Direction" at the Festival do Rio in the same year.
