Nash Laila, a native of Pernambuco who grew up on the outskirts of Jaboatão dos Guararapes and has lived in São Paulo for twelve years, is an actress, singer, casting coach, screenwriter and director in theater and film.
She has acted in the feature films "Tatuagem" (2013, directed by Hilton Lacerda), "Amor Plástico e Barulho" (2013, directed by Renata Pinheiro), "Corpo Elétrico" (2017, directed by Marcelo Caetano), "Amor Plástico e Barulho" (2013, directed by Marcelo Caetano) and "Corpo Elétrico" (2017, directed by Marcelo Caetano), "Anna" (2021, directed by Heitor Dhalia), "Paloma" (2022, directed by Marcelo Gomes), "Lilith" (2024, directed by Bruno Safadi), "Rio Doce" (2023, directed by Fellipe Fernandes), among others.
She also acted in the series "Me Chama de Bruna" (2016, Star+), "Carcereiros" (2017, Globoplay), "Lama dos dias" (2018, Canal Brasil), "Irmandade" (2019, Netflix), "Hit Parade" (2021, Canal Brasil), "Chão de Estrelas" (2021, Globoplay), "Maria Bonita" (Disney/StarPlus) and "Reencarne" (Globoplay), with esteemed and recognized directors in national cinematography such as Hilton Lacerda, Marcelo Caetano, Heitor Dhalia, Bruno Safadi, Noa Bressane, Gustavo Vinagre, among others.
His films have been shown and awarded prizes at important film festivals in Brazil and abroad, such as the Berlinale, the Guadalajara Film Festival, the Havana Film Festival, the Gramado Film Festival and the Rio Film Festival. Fellipe Fernandes' short film "O delírio é a redenção dos aflitos" (Delirium is the redemption of the afflicted) was selected for the 55 Semaine de la Critique Cannes Film Festival.
She received awards for her performance in this film and in the features "Plastic Love and Noise" and "Happy Desert" at the Brasília Film Festival, the Santa Maria da Feira Film Festival in Portugal, the Paris Brazilian Film Festival, the Triunfo Film Festival and the Cachoeira Film Festival, among others.
Her acting training began at the Hipérion School of Acting in Recife, where she studied for three years. At the age of 14, he premiered his first play, A Lição (Eugene Ionesco, Dir. Jorge Clésio) and with him he also directed Valsa N6 (Nelson Rodrigues). At 18, she made her first professional audiovisual work, Deserto Feliz (Paulo Caldas), a film that won her wide circulation at international festivals, as well as her first awards as an actress. She took a degree in Performing Arts at UFPE in 2009 and, in 2010, went to Clermont Ferrand to study Histoire de l'art, Jeux d'acteur and Tournée-Montée at L'Université Blaise Pascal on exchange.
She made her debut as a cast coach in the series "Lama dos dias" (2017) for Canal Brasil and in the feature film "Fim de Festa", where, as well as being an actress, she coached a cast of young and established actors. The latter was awarded Best Film by the official jury of the 2019 Rio Film Festival. She was also in charge of cast preparation for Gustavo Vinagre's 2021 Teddy Alwards award-winner "Three Sad Tigers".
Since 2012 she has been part of the core group of artist-strategists at the Associação Teat(r)o Oficina Uzyna Uzona in São Paulo. In the nucleus Nash works acting, composing, scriptwriting, producing and co-directing in his daily practice of Universidade Antropófaga in all the montages and seasons of the carnival plays-operas. These include new productions, such as Macumba Antropófaga, Acordes, Odisseia Cacildas, and repertory productions, such as Rei da Vela, Roda Viva, Bacantes, O Banquete, by iconic authors of world theater. Bertolt Brecht, Antonin Artaud, Oswald de Andrade and Euripides, to name a few, always under the direction of José Celso Martinez Corrêa.
In 2022, she directed and performed alongside Felipe Botelho in "Laboratório de Experimentos Musicais, Canto e Composição" (Laboratory of Musical Experiments, Singing and Composition) at the 5th Dentition of the Anthropophagic University, an artistic residency of Teat(r)o Oficina, where she also sang in "A caverna dos Olhos Acesos" (The Cave of Lit Eyes).
In 2023 she premiered Letícia Coura's show "Das Paredes" at Sesc Pinheiros. She has dedicated herself to musical projects such as "Breathing São João Gilberto", creating, arranging, directing and singing. She was in season and in circulation with the project "Go Back Torquato", singing Torquato Neto's repertoire. She co-directed the singing and acting in Teat(r)o Oficina's new show, "Mutação de Apoteose".
In 2024, she began creating her new hybrid music and theater project "Noite de Junho" alongside Isadora Melo, Una Martins and Italo Soeiro, while dedicating herself to dramaturgy and acting in Letícia Simões' new film, "A vida secreta dos meus três homens" (Carnaval Filmes).
