Maria Camargo
Author and Screenwriter
A film graduate from Puc-Rio, she is the author of the series "Route 66" (2022), "Assédio" (2018) and "Dois Irmãos" (2017), the last two finalists for the APCA Drama Award. In 2019, he scripted, with Bárbara Paz, the feature film "Babenco - Alguém tem que ouvir o coração e Dizer: Parou", winner of the best documentary award at the Venice Film Festival and a Brazilian pre-candidate for the Oscars.
He has adapted works by Clarice Lispector, Milton Hatoum, Ana Maria Gonçalves and Caco Barcellos, among others. She is also co-writer of the film "Nise, o Coração da Loucura" (2016) and dramaturgy supervisor for two series for Globoplay: "Flordelis: Questiona ou Adora" (2022); and "Fim" (2024), based on the book of the same name by Fernanda Torres.
She has also written episodes for the series "Ilha de Ferro" (2018) and "Correio Feminino" (2013) and the show "Por Toda a Minha Vida" - and with the Mamonas Assassinas special she was a finalist for the International Emmy in 2009. She was also a collaborator on the soap opera "Lado a Lado", which won the award in 2013, and the soap opera "Babilônia" (2015).
She wrote and directed the award-winning short films "Se meu pai fosse de pedra" (2010) and "O coração às vezes pára de bater" (2009) and published the books "Dois Irmãos: Roteiro da série" (2017, Cobogó), "O medo e o mar" (2009, Cia das Letras) and "Preciosas Coisas vãs Fundamentais" (2010, BEI).
She is a consultant for the Paradiso Project and the New Stories Script Lab (SESC/SENAC SP).
