Fernando Ceylão
Director and Screenwriter
Fernando Ceylão is a screenwriter and director. Discovered by Guel Arraes, he began his career at Rede Globo, working on the writing team of "Brasil Legal" (1995) a program hosted by Regina Casé.
At the network, he wrote for shows such as "Sai de Baixo," "Vida ao Vivo Show" (starring Pedro Cardoso and Luis Fernando Guimarães), "Batendo o Ponto", "Zorra Total" and had a humor column on "Mais Você."
In cinema, he worked as a screenwriter for “Sorria, Você está sendo filmado” (2014), “É Fada” (2016), “Dissonantes” (2022), “Como é cruel viver assim” (2017), “Não tem volta” (2024), as well as upcoming releases.
On cable TV, at Canal Brasil, he created “Você Está Aqui” (2009) and “Gentalha” (2014), two anthology programs featuring short stories of suspense and darkly comedic fiction in the style of "The Twilight Zone." He also produced two seasons of the series "Amorais" (2009) and the show "Ponto de vista." In these respective programs, he served as the showrunner, creating, writing, and directing all episodes.
He was the first Brazilian to do stand-up comedy and was the creator of the group "Comédia em Pé." He performed five solo stand-up shows and even appeared in New York clubs in English. In theater, he directed dozens of plays, including "Namoradinha do Brasil," which he both wrote and directed, starring Susana Vieira. He has also published two books: “Cabeça de Gordo” (2010, Editora Objetiva) and “Melhor que o Filme” (2014, Editora Memória Visual).
Currently, he is writing the series "Clodovil" for Paramount+, as well as working on four projects: two for streaming platforms, one for Rede Globo, and another for TV Cultura.
