Eliana Alves Cruz
Writer and Screenwriter
Eliana Alves Cruz is from Rio de Janeiro, a writer, screenwriter and journalist with a postgraduate degree in business communication. She won the 2022 Jabuti Prize in the short story category for her book "A vestida". Her debut novel, “Água de barrela”, won the 2015 Oliveira Silveira Award from the Palmares Cultural Foundation/Ministry of Culture, and was an honorable mention in the 2018 Thomas Skidmore Award from the National Archives and the American Brown University. She is currently a presenter on TV Brasil's Trilha de Letras program.
Her second novel, “O crime do cais do Valongo”, was chosen as one of the best of 2018 by the critics of the newspaper O Globo and was a semi-finalist for the 2019 Oceanos Prize.
The novel "Nada digo de ti, que no ver em ti", released in June 2020 by Editora Pallas, received a prize from the Brazilian Writers' Union in 2022, and the novel "Solitária", released by Companhia das Letras in 2022, is already among the publisher's bestsellers. The author also has two children's books: “A Copa Frondosa da Árvore” and “O desenho do mundo”.
In the audiovisual field, she was head of drama for the series “Capoeiras”, to be released by Disney Star+, was part of the script room for the series “Anderson Spider Silva” (2023) and was a content creator for Paramount's “Narrativas Negras” project, as well as being a researcher for Rede Globo and Fox.
