Clara Anastácia
Screenwriter and Director
Clara Anastácia is a screenwriter and director, born and raised in Favela da Pedreira, in the north of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Interested in building a new ethic for the audiovisual image and language, she theorized and created the Decolonial Melodrama genre that builds her first film, "Escasso", a work that led Anastácia to be named by the MoMa as a director of new cinematographic languages for the year 2023.
The aforementioned short film, Escasso (2022), which she created, scripted, acted in and directed, was the most awarded short film between 2022/2023 in Brazil, winning the statuette for best film at the most important festivals in Brazil and being awarded outside the country at events in Portugal, France and the United States.
Anastácia was also a member of the Creative CoLaboratory 2021, created and produced by AFAR Ventures and Netflix Brasil - the project selects the 16 best black screenwriters in the country every year. With extensive experience in the audiovisual market, the screenwriter and director began her journey at Netflix Brasil, having already worked on platforms such as Disney, HBO and Globoplay.
