Antonio Grassi

Actor, Director and Cultural Manager

 

Antonio Grassi is an actor with a degree in social sciences from the Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences at UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais) and has been the president of the Inhotim Institute in recent years.

In recent years, Grassi has been dedicated to formulating public policies for the cultural sector, serving as Secretary of State for Culture of Rio de Janeiro, President of the Theatro Municipal Foundation of Rio de Janeiro, Vice-President of the National Forum of Secretaries and State Culture leaders, Director Trustee of the World Cultural Forum, and President of the National Arts Foundation (Funarte) of the Ministry of Culture of Brazil.

Popularly known for his work on television in over 30 programs, including series, miniseries, soap operas, and special programs, highlighting soap operas such as "Cara & Coroa" (1995, Globo), "Paixões Proibidas" (2006, Band), "Força de um desejo" (1998, Globo), "Chocolate com Pimenta" (2003, Globo), "Chamas da Vida" (2008, Record), as well as miniseries and series such as "Chiquinha Gonzaga" (1999, Globo), "O Quinto dos Infernos" (2002, Globo), "Carandiru, outras histórias" (2005, Globo), "Bom dia, Veronica" (2019, Netflix), "Santo" (2022, Netflix), "Pedaços de Mim" (Netflix, to be released), among others.

In theater, both as an actor and director, he has participated in works such as: "O Inimigo do Povo" (Dir. Domingos Oliveira), "Sonhos de uma noite de verão" (Dir. Werner Herzog), "A Serpente" (Dir. Antonio Abujamra), "The Woolgatherer" (Dir. Paulo Reis), "O Urso" (Tchecov), "O beijo no Asfalto" (Dir. Buza Ferraz), "Os Justos" (Dir. Paulo Cesar Bicalho), "O Interrogatório" (Dir. Jota Dangelo), "Dona Rosita" (Dir. Antonio Grassi), "O Ferreiro e a Morte" (Dir. Antonio Grassi), among several others.
