Maria Ribeiro is a Brazilian actress, presenter and author who has achieved national and international recognition with a multifaceted career spanning theater, film and television.
In film, Maria has collaborated with renowned directors in the audiovisual market, delivering performances that have earned her nominations and awards. As the lead in ''Como Nossos Pais'' (2017, directed by Laís Bodansky), she won Best Actress awards at the Gramado Festival, the Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix and the Guarani Brazilian Cinema Award, and won Best Supporting Actress at the Brazil Quality Awards for the films ''Tropa de Elite 2'' (2010, directed by José Padilha) and ''Entre Nós'' (2013, directed by Pedro Morelli and Paulo Morelli).
He began his television career in 1994. At Globo, he starred in the soap operas ''História de Amor'' (1995), ''A Padroeira'' (2001) and ''Império'' (2014), as well as making special appearances in other TV series such as ''Incidente em Antares'' (1994), ''Quatro Por Quatro'' (1994), ''Malhação'' (1996), ''O Rei do Gado'' (1996) and ''Mulher'' (1998). At Record, she worked on soap operas such as the re-edition of ''A Escrava Isaura'' (2004) and ''Luz do Sol'' (2007). She was one of the main characters in ''Desalma'' (2020, Globoplay) and made special appearances in ''O Mecanismo'' (2018, Netflix) and ''Todas as Mulheres do Mundo'' (2020, Globoplay).
In theater, she has directed plays such as ''Confessions of an Adolescent'', ''Philosophical Cabaret'', ''The First Waltz'', ''The Enemy of the People'', ''Philosophical Cabaret 2'', ''Separations'' and ''Capitu''. In 2008 she returned to the stage in ''After the Beginning of the World''; in 2011, she starred in the play ''God is a DJ'' and in 2017 she staged the show ''Tryo Elétryco - Essay on something we still don't know what it is''.
She was the presenter of the program ''Saia Justa'' on GNT in seasons 12 to 15 (2013-2016), and she also commanded the variety program ''Tudo'' on the Hysteria platform and ''Maria Vai com os Outros'' on UOL. She was a columnist for O Globo newspaper's Segundo Caderno, Veja Rio magazine and is currently a columnist for Gama magazine and Universa on UOL.
As a director, in 2003 she released the short film ''Vinte e Cinco'' (2002) and directed the documentaries ''Domingos'' (2011), ''Los Hermanos: Esse É Só o Começo do Fim da Nossa Vida'' (2015) and ''Outubro'' (2019).
In the literary field, he has published several works such as ''Thirty-eight and a half'', ''Everything I always wanted to say, but could only write'' and ''Chronicles to read anywhere'' (together with Xico Sá and Gregório Duvivier).
