"Maria Ribeiro is a Brazilian actress, presenter, and author.
In cinema, Maria starred in the film “Como Nossos Pais” (2017, Dir. Laís Bodansky), for which she won Best Actress awards at the Gramado Film Festival, the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro, and the Guarani Award for Brazilian Cinema. She won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Prêmio Qualidade Brasil for the films “Tropa de Elite 2” (2010, Dir. José Padilha) and “Entre Nós” (2013, Dir. Pedro Morelli and Paulo Morelli).
As a director, she released the short film “Vinte e Cinco” (2002) and the documentaries “Domingos” (2011), “Los Hermanos: Esse É Só o Começo do Fim da Nossa Vida” (2015), and “Outubro” (2019).
At Globo, she appeared in the telenovelas “Império” (2014), “A Padroeira” (2001), and “História de Amor” (1995), as well as special appearances in other network productions such as “Malhação” (1996) and “O Rei do Gado”. At Record, she appeared in telenovelas such as “A Escrava Isaura” (2004) and “Luz do Sol” (2007). She was one of the lead actresses in the series “Desalma” (2020, Globoplay) and made special appearances in “O Mecanismo” (2018, Netflix) and “Todas as Mulheres do Mundo” (2020, Globoplay).
In 2008, she returned to theater in “Depois do Começo do Mundo”; in 2011, she starred in the play “Deus é um DJ”; and in 2017 she created the stage show “Tryo Elétryco - Ensaio sobre alguma coisa que a gente ainda não sabe o que é”.
She hosted the show “Saia Justa” on GNT for seasons 12 to 15 (2013–2016), led the variety program “Tudo” on the Hysteria platform, and hosted “Maria Vai com os Outros” at UOL. She was a columnist for Segundo Caderno (O Globo) and Veja Rio magazine, and is currently a columnist for Gama magazine and Universa at UOL.
In literature, she has published several works, including “Trinta e oito e meio”, “Tudo que eu sempre quis dizer, mas só consegui escrevendo”, and “Crônicas para ler em qualquer lugar” (co-authored with Xico Sá and Gregório Duvivier)."
