Carol Pires is a journalist, screenwriter and holds a master's degree in Latin American politics from Columbia University in New York. She hosts the podcast "Retrato Narrado" (Narrated Portrait), a Spotify original about the roots of the thinking of former president Jair Bolsonaro, winner of the IREE award for political journalism in 2021.

As screenwriter of the documentary "Democracia em Vertigem", Carol Pires was nominated for best screenwriter at the International Documentary Association (IDA), and for best narration text at the Critics' Choice Documentary Award. The film was also nominated for the 2020 Oscar for Best Documentary and won the Peabody Award, the Platino Award and the 2020 APCA Award.

Carol Pires is also a reporter and scriptwriter for the Globoplay series "Extremistas.BR", winner of the Vaclav Havel Human Rights Prize in 2023. He won the ABRA Award for Best Screenplay three times for the program "Greg News" on HBO. She also wrote the series "Eleitas - mulheres na política" (Elected - women in politics), for Quebrando o Tabu, and the film "Quebrando Mitos" (Breaking Myths), directed by Fernando Grostein.

In 2024, she released the documentary "A Vítima Invisível - o caso Eliza Samúdio", produced by Boutique Filmes, for which she is the scriptwriter and head of research. He also wrote the Audible original "Why Did I Change?", presented by Lázaro Ramos.

Carol Pires writes for national and international media such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, Folha de S.Paulo and Piauí magazine. Her reports can also be read in international outlets such as Internazionale in Italy, Courrier Internacional in France, Gatopardo in Mexico and Reportagen in Switzerland.

As a journalist, he has already received the Estadão 2010 award for best election coverage, the Vision Journalists Award, granted by the Ling Institute, and the Nuevos Cronistas de Indias Award, granted by the García Márquez Foundation in Colombia.

With a master's degree in Latin American politics from Columbia University in New York, she was chosen as an Ochberg Fellow by the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma in 2024.
